No Ordinary Tuesday
Today, October 4, is a meaningful day for a lot of people. Even if it is an ordinary Tuesday, maybe their kid has a dentist appointment after school. Perhaps it's the day that someone significant in their life is having major surgery. This particular ordinary Tuesday is the start of Yom Kippur - one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar. A quick Google search will tell you that it's a time for self reflection, repentance, renewal, and an opportunity to look to the year ahead with renewed meaning or even purpose. In observance of Yom Kippur - also known as a day of atonement; the Jewish community will fast from sundown at the start of Yom Kippur until sundown of the following day. The practice of fasting is said to help purify the person as they become nourished by devotion and prayer alone as they set intention and resolve to atone.
