That which you are seeking, is seeking you

There is comfort in the notion that what you seek is also seeking you. We can thank the 13th century Persian poet, Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī, most commonly known as Rumi for this wisdom.

It speaks to an idea central to the law of attraction - to "act as if" the thing you want most, already is in your possession. To be confident in its arrival in your world at the right place, the right time. To be certain that it will find you as you work to find it. To know, like you know, like you know, that it is coming. The thing [insert your desired thing/achievement/status/success here] wants to find you as much as you want to find it. How awesome is that?

But if you don't know what you are seeking, when it finds you - how will you recognize it?

Enter meditation. I've meditated on the idea of teaching yoga so often and for so long - that there are varying levels to which the visions of my teaching yoga come. The details change, but the core of the vision is constant. Sometimes I can hear the music I've selected. Other times, it is the words I plan to share in a dharma talk that ring in my ears. Each time I view these mental pictures from a place of certainty, a new level of happiness and peace comes up. Kinda like it looks like I feel in this picture.
Other times, there is a little tinge of fear in this notion as well. I admit that sometimes my heart does that fluttery thing when I close my eyes and see myself in the seat of the teacher before a group of yogis. The stomach churns at the mental image of me moving through the room surrounded by yogis in a challenging pose like warrior two or even high lunge. Each time I view this vision from a place of fear, a new level of worry comes up.

But then, I ponder on the essence of Rumi's wisdom. I remember that I know what I'm seeking - at least in terms of my yoga practice and quest to teach and I relax. I remember that it is seeking me too. It is freeing and comforting. It brings joy. Kinda like it looks like I feel in this picture.
What do you seek? First answering that question deep inside yourself is the key.
